Brewers Have Checked On Trevor Story
3 years agoThe Milwaukee Brewers have checked in on Colorado Rockies shortstop Trevor Story, who is eligible to become a free agent after this season and is expected to be dealt before this week's trade deadline. Milwaukee's pickup of shortstop Willy Adames has been the best in-season move to this point, but they are looking for another big bat to make a postseason run in October. There have been six to eight teams, including the New York Yankees, linked to Story in recent weeks, so it's anyone's guess as to where he'll wind up. Story remains a must-start fantasy shortstop, but perhaps a change of scenery will get him going at the plate. The 28-year-old has had a down year by his standards with a .242 batting average and .313 on-base percentage, but he still has 12 home runs, 46 RBI and 17 stolen bases. Fantasy managers also have to wonder how good he'll be away from Coors Field if he's traded, as he has a career .242 average on the road, compared to a .302 average at hitter-friendly Coors Field.
