3 years agoRival executives believe that the Chicago Cubs will sell big with third baseman Kris Bryant, closer Craig Kimbrel, starting pitcher Zach Davies and perhaps others at the trade deadline, but there's also a solid chance that they hold onto shortstop Javier Baez and/or first baseman Anthony Rizzo. The Cubs are expected to try and sign Baez and Rizzo at some point, but there have been no known contract talks lately. Bryant is the most likely to be traded with his contract expiring at the end of the 2021 season. Kimbrel, who has had an excellent bounce-back season in Chicago, has an affordable $16 million team option for the 2022 season. Davies is a lower-profile starter, but he is also eligible for free agency this winter. The Cubs could look quite different next week as they look to rebuild.--Keith Hernandez - RotoBaller
