D.K. Metcalf 2021 Outlook: The Best May Be Yet To Come
4 years agoD.K. Metcalf emerged as one of the top wide receivers in Fantasy Football in 2020, finishing as WR9 overall in a true breakout campaign. His 1,303 receiving yards ranked seventh in the league and he finished with 10 touchdown receptions. No wideout in the league may be able to match Metcalf's pure blend of size and speed. According to playerprofiler.com, Metcalf ranked second in the league in air yards and third in deep targets last season. What is scary for defenses, however, is that Metcalf is still evolving as a pro receiver at age 23. He is still a work in progress as a route runner, and he had eight drops last year. He was just 29th in the league in contested catch rate. If Metcalf continues to progress in those areas, he could truly become one of the truly elite wide receivers in fantasy football. Metcalf had just one 100-yard game and one touchdown catch in the final six weeks last season as Russell Wilson struggled through the worst second half of his career, but the Seattle QB should be more consistent overall in 2021. You can be assured that Metcalf will be well worth the ADP of WR7, as his ceiling could be in the top three at his position.
