Mike Soroka Officially Out For The Season
4 years agoAtlanta Braves right-handed pitcher Mike Soroka (Achilles) will officially miss the rest of the season after having surgery to fix a torn right Achilles, according to manager Brian Snitker. The 23-year-old had a setback in his recovery and was scheduled to have a follow-up procedure in mid-May. Soroka, who was the team's Opening Day starter last year, suffered the injury against the New York Mets on Aug. 3 of last season. He went 13-4 with a 2.68 ERA back in 2019 and emerged as one of the best arms in their rotation. Soroka earned a spot on the All-Star team and finished second in the National League Rookie of the Year voting. He should be ready for spring training next season, and he could be a nice value pick if he returns to his pre-injury form.
