Jaguars Waive Ryquell Armstead
4 years agoThe Jacksonville Jaguars waived running back Ryquell Armstead on Monday after he missed all of the 2020 season because of complications related to COVID-19. The 24-year-old went on the Reserve/COVID-19 list twice last year, spending 19 days on the list the first time. He dealt with a groin injury and another illness before going back on the list. The Jaguars took Armstead in the fifth round of the 2019 NFL draft, and he ran for 108 yards on 35 carries as a rookie. If not for his injuries and illness last year, he likely would've played a large role in the offense after the team cut Leonard Fournette, but undrafted rookie James Robinson won the starting job and ran for 1,070 yards and seven touchdowns. Jacksonville also selected former Clemson running back Travis Etienne 25th overall in the first round of last month's draft.
