Lions Waive Kerryon Johnson
4 years agoThe Detroit Lions waived running back Kerryon Johnson on Wednesday, according to a source. The former second-round pick was on the outside looking in with the emergence of D'Andre Swift, and the Lions also recently signed Jamaal Williams to their backfield. In addition, Detroit drafted Jermar Jefferson in the seventh round of last week's NFL draft. Johnson rushed for 641 yards and three touchdowns but was limited to 10 games in his rookie season due to a knee injury. He played in just eight contests due to another knee ailment in 2019. Johnson played in all 16 games last year, but he started in just two games and had a career-low 181 rushing yards while working behind Swift and veteran Adrian Peterson. The 23-year-old will look for another opportunity on the open market.
