Patriots Eyeing Justin Fields?
4 years agoSeveral teams have been making calls about getting into the top 10 of this week's NFL draft, including the New England Patriots, who could be eyeing Ohio State quarterback Justin Fields if he begins to fall in the early part of the first round. The current sweet spot is No. 7 overall with the Detroit Lions, who would likely be open to trading back to acquire more draft picks as they look to rebuild. The Carolina Panthers and Denver Broncos at No. 8 and No. 9, respectively, are both candidates to draft a quarterback or offensive lineman. The Patriots re-signed Cam Newton to a one-year deal, but he didn't look all that great in 2020, and the team is still searching for a long-term solution under center. New England would likely need to give up a second-rounder to move up from No. 15 overall. The Philadelphia Eagles and Minnesota Vikings may also be making calls while looking to trade up into the top 10.
