Chiefs Re-Sign Mike Remmers Thursday
4 years agoThe Kansas City Chiefs re-signed offensive tackle Mike Remmers to a one-year deal worth $3.5 million guaranteed on Thursday, according to a source. The total maximum value of the deal can reach $7 million. He wound up playing in 13 regular season games (10 starts) after originally signing as a versatile reserve offensive lineman. Remmers was mostly solid last year at a number of different spots along the line, mostly at right tackle after Mitchell Schwartz's injury kept him out for the rest of the season. He'll receive some competition from Lucas Niang, who sat out in 2020, but it should be Remmers' job to lose after he was a big part of their run to the Super Bowl. Of utmost importance is the protection of star quarterback Patrick Mahomes, and the Chiefs are slowly building their offensive line back up.
