Chargers Add Jared Cook To The Mix
4 years agoThe Los Angeles Chargers signed free-agent tight end Jared Cook to a one-year, $6 million deal on Thursday, according to a source. Cook will receive $4.5 million fully guaranteed. The 33-year-old veteran will replace Hunter Henry, who signed with the New England Patriots in free agency. Cook is a two-time Pro Bowler that put up 37 receptions on 60 targets for 504 yards and seven touchdowns in 15 games (five starts) for the New Orleans Saints in 2020. He took a step back last year with Drew Brees missing time due to injuries, but Cook can still put up TE1 numbers, especially with young and impressive quarterback Justin Herbert now throwing him passes. Cook should be the team's top pass-catching tight end over Stephen Anderson and Donald Parham, and he should be considered a touchdown-dependent TE1 with some upside heading into next season.
