49ers Re-Sign D.J. Jones
4 years agoThe San Francisco 49ers re-signed defensive tackle D.J. Jones to an undisclosed one-year deal, according to a source. Jones has been an underrated starter on the defensive side of the ball. The 2017 sixth-round pick started 14 games for the team last year and had a career-high in tackles for loss, sacks, QB hurries and QB pressures. Jones will receive $2.2 million in 2021 and will only count for $900,000 against the salary cap for the 2021 season. Arik Armstead, Jones, Javon Kinlaw and Nick Bosa will comprise the team's starting defensive line, with Samson Ebukam a potential SAM linebacker/rotational pass-rusher in sub packages. Jones has been an excellent run-defender in his short time with the Niners.
