Ronald Acuna Jr. Goes Deep For First Time This Spring
4 years agoAtlanta Braves outfielder Ronald Acuna Jr. hit his first spring training home run on Thursday, a solo shot to left field off Rays right-hander Collin McHugh. Acuna entered the day 2-for-14 with five strikeouts in spring training but had two hits on the day. He was 5-for-32 with no extra-base hits and 14 strikeouts last spring before camp was halted due to COVID-19. Acuna fought left wrist inflammation most of last year, but he still led the National League with a home run every 11.43 at-bats. His 81 long balls are the third-most that any Braves player has recorded through age 22, behind just Eddie Matthews (112) and Bob Horner (91). Acuna is a monster on offense and should be a top-three pick in the first round of drafts.
