A Breakout Coming For Kyle Wright?
4 years agoAtlanta Braves starting pitcher Kyle Wright is one of the team's most heralded pitching prospects, which is saying something considering the team also has Max Fried and Mike Soroka in their starting rotation. The fifth overall pick in 2017 had a 1.80 ERA over his final three regular season starts and Game 3 of the National League Division Series. That came after a rocky start led to him being optioned to the alternate training site when he had an ERA of 7.20 after four starts. The 25-year-old right-hander fell apart in his NLCS start against the Dodgers, allowing seven runs in just two-thirds of an inning. That's probably what most fantasy managers will remember, and Wright isn't being drafted in the majority of single-year leagues. But if he can get back to where he was to close the 2020 regular season, he'll be a priority waiver-wire pickup in 2021.
