Texans Have Decision To Make On J.J. Watt
4 years agoThe Houston Texans have a decision to make on pass-rusher J.J. Watt, but the sense that the NFL Network's Ian Rapoport and Mike Garafolo are getting is that it might make more sense somewhere other than Houston. Watt has been the face of the franchise for the last decade, but his situation has been overshadowed of late by quarterback Deshaun Watson after he officially requested a trade. The three-time Defensive Player of the Year will turn 32 years old in March and will be entering the final year of his deal. He's set to make $17.5 million in 2021 but is coming off another disappointing season. If the All-Pro pass-rusher has played his last down with the Texans, a split might be welcomed. "It doesn't seem like the Texans, who have a new regime in, would reset the table and give him a long-term extension," Garafolo said. Even with Watt in the fold, Houston's defense has been a poor option for fantasy managers, so they'll certainly be one to avoid if he moves on.
