Sonny Gray, Luis Castillo Unlikely To Be Traded?
4 years agoThe possibility of Cincinnati Reds starting pitcher Sonny Gray being traded might be fading. This comes after general manager Nick Krall squashed rumors of a supposed trade that would have sent right-hander Luis Castillo to the Yankees on Sunday. The Reds asked the Yankees for shortstop Gleyber Torres, but that request was turned down. Cincy is telling other teams that they now intend to keep Castillo. The 31-year-old Gray is owed $20 million over the next two seasons and has a $12 million team option for the 2023 season. Gray had a 3.07 ERA with a 10.8 K/9 the last two years for Cincinnati. The right-hander could still be traded in an offseason that has featured a busy starting pitcher trade market. Gray could be an even more attractive No. 2 starting pitcher in fantasy leagues if he lands in a more favorable position.
