Salvador Perez Wins AL Comeback Player Of The Year
4 years agoKansas City Royals catcher Salvador Perez was named the 2020 American League Comeback Player of the Year on Thursday. Perez, a six-time All-Star, was also named to the All-MLB first team on Wednesday. He sat out all of the 2019 season after having Tommy John surgery and missed the start of summer camp this year after testing positive for COVID-19. He missed another three weeks during the season with a lingering eye issue that caused blurred vision. But the 30-year-old still managed to post career highs in average (.333), slugging percentage (.633) and OPS (.986) while tacking on 11 home runs and 32 RBI in 37 games played. Perez also won his third Silver Slugger Award earlier this offseason. Because of his offensive prowess, he should once again be a top fantasy option at his position in 2021.
