Chiefs Defense Expected To Add DeAndre Baker
4 years agoThe Kansas City Chiefs are expected to sign former Giants cornerback DeAndre Baker to their practice squad in the coming days, according to a source. Baker, a first-round pick (30th overall) for New York in 2019, is headed to Kansas City for a visit, which is his only planned visit. The Giants released the 23-year-old in the offseason for his alleged involvement in an armed robbery in Florida. But on Monday, all charges were dropped against Baker when South Florida attorney William Dean was charged with extortion. Baker will have to be removed from the commissioner's exempt list in order to be eligible to play in games. The Georgia product had 61 combined tackles in 16 games in his rookie season and will give an already strong Chiefs Defense some nice depth in the secondary.
