Justin Jefferson Thriving On Deep Routes
4 years agoMinnesota Vikings first-round rookie wide receiver Justin Jefferson has caught 10 of his 11 targets for 276 yards and a touchdown on deep routes this year. Deep routes include go, post and corner routes, with go and post routes the most efficient receiver routes in terms of expected points added per target. Jefferson leads the NFL with 3.7 yards per deep route run with a minimum of 35 deep routes. Packers receiver Davante Adams is second at 3.6, followed by Seahawks wideout David Moore (3.4). Seahawks second-year wideout D.K. Metcalf and Lions pass-catcher Kenny Golladay are tied for fourth on the list at 3.2. Jefferson has been huge in helping replace Stefon Diggs in Minnesota. But with any young receiving threat, he can be boom/bust for fantasy owners. Consider Jefferson a volatile WR2 this weekend against a Bears Defense that is allowing the third-fewest fantasy points per game to wide receivers. Chicago has surrendered just three touchdowns to receivers in 2020, tied for the fewest in the NFL.
