Marvin Jones Jr. (WR, DET) - Week 8 Waiver Wire Pickups

ANALYSIS: Marvin Jones Jr. barely made the cut (50% rostership) to be written about in this week's WW blog, and he's actually barely making the cut to being fantasy relevant this season too (7.9 PPR per game). Even though Jones has been widely disappointing in 2020, half of all Yahoo! leagues' fantasy GMs are still believing in him. It's starting to get hard to keep riding that wave, though, and tons of people are jumping off the ship. You might want to take advantage of it.

Jones has been plain bad this season. As simple as that. Jones leads all Lions wide receivers in snaps by a lot. He has played 356 to Golladay's 207 (he's missed two games) and Amendola's 199 in 6 games. Even with that 150 snap difference, Golladay is already past Jones in total PPR with 65.8 to Jones' 47.6.

While Marvin Jones didn't have the worst start to the season (9.5, 12.3, and 8.1 fantasy points), he dropped two back-to-back below-3.0 PPR performances in Weeks 4 and 6, bye in the middle. Good for fantasy GMs still holding onto Jones, he kind of came back to his senses last Sunday with a 13 PPR-point performance against the Falcons catching 5 of 6 targets for 80 yards. Nothing mindblowing, but enough for a WR3 finish.

Getting Jones for free is going to be hard, as his rostership is super high. His upside is that of a WR2, and he should be a good weekly FLEX option in any 12+ league and deeper formats. Even if he's underperforming now, he might turn the page and improve his results. And even if he doesn't, his floor should be closer to 10 PPR than those two games in which he couldn't even reach 3.0 PPR points.
