BALLER MOVE: Add in All Leagues
ROSTERED: 41% of Leagues
ANALYSIS: It might sound ridiculous, and it probably is, but it wouldn't be too crazy to say Watkins may be already past his peak this year after having a great Week 1 performance. If you remember what happened last season, you'd understand what I'm talking about. Watkins started 2019 with a true bang, racking up 46.8 (!) PPR points to the tune of 9 receptions (11 targets) for 198 yards and 3 TDs. Now, kicking 2020 off, Watkins led all receivers in the first game of the year to reach 21.5 PPR points.
This didn't reach last year's level of craziness, but it was close. Watkins caught 7 of 9 targets and racked up 82 yards and a score in his season debut. After the monster performance in 2019 Week 1, Watkins never again caught more than 7 passes, reached 65 yards, nor scored a touchdown or more than 13 PPR points. That being said, he became a steady and mostly reliable 10-fantasy point player on average, catching his weekly four passes and averaging near 50 yards.
While you can't expect Watkins to be your WR1, and probably not even your WR2, he'd definitely be a great FLEX play more often than not with huge upside because of the offense he plays in. The Chiefs look even better than last year, have added a stud-RB to keep defenses honest on defending the rushing game, and Watkins is going to get targets no matter what. Fantasy GMs are catching up and Watkins' kinda high ownership shows it. Try adding him to your roster before it's too late and hold onto him for the whole year.
