Jimmy Nelson To Have Back Surgery, Miss Entire Season
4 years agoLos Angeles Dodgers starting pitcher Jimmy Nelson (back) will have surgery on his lower back on Tuesday and will miss the entire 2020 season. Dr. Robert Watkins will perform the lumbar procedure. Nelson signed a one-year deal with the Dodgers, and the team will hold a 2021 option on the right-hander. The 31-year-old had a great season with Milwaukee in 2017, but he's pretty much been injured since. He was 0-2 with a 6.95 ERA, 1.91 WHIP and 26 strikeouts in 22 innings in 2019 with the Brew Crew. With David Price opting out this year and now Nelson out for the season, Ross Stripling will have much more value to the Dodgers and fantasy owners in a swing role.
