Devin Duvernay 2020 Outlook: Exciting Dynasty Asset Facing Limited Target Share
4 years agoDevin Duvernay, currently ranked as the WR118 in PPR leagues, is a third-round pick who produced big numbers in his senior season at Texas. A slot receiver who ran the 40-yard dash in 4.39 seconds at the combine, Duvernay combines elite speed with excellent hands and terrific after-the-catch ability. While that skillset hints at an exciting long-term partnership with MVP quarterback Lamar Jackson, fantasy owners in redraft leagues should temper expectations for the rookie receiver. As reflected by his ADP of WR129, Duvernay is firmly behind WR Marquise Brown and TE Mark Andrews in the pecking order for targets. Additionally, Duvernay will have to fight for snaps in the slot with veteran WR Willie Snead IV, and second-year WR Miles Boykin still on the roster. No NFL team threw the ball less often than the Ravens in 2019, and this offense is unlikely to support fantasy success for tertiary pass catchers. Duvernay is unpolished as a route runner and may require time to fine-tune his mechanics before being relied on as a consistent playmaker. As such, Duvernay offers intriguing potential for dynasty owners but is best viewed as a lottery ticket in redraft leagues.
