Deebo Samuel Suffers Broken Foot
4 years agoSan Francisco 49ers wide receiver Deebo Samuel (foot) suffered a broken foot during a throwing session on Tuesday with teammates in Nashville, Tennessee, and is undergoing surgery on Thursday, according to a source. It's a Jones fracture. Dr. Robert Anderson will perform the surgery, and Samuel should be able to return in 12 to 16 weeks, which gives him plenty of time to make an impact in 2020 if he makes a full recovery. The 24-year-old became a go-to receiver for the Niners in his rookie season on their way to a Super Bowl appearance. He caught 57 passes (81 targets) for 802 yards and three touchdowns in the regular season. Don't expect him to be ready for the start of the regular season, which will drop him out of consideration as a WR2 in fantasy. Rookie receiver Brandon Aiyuk becomes more attractive out of the gates, and the likes of Kendrick Bourne, Jalen Hurd, Dante Pettis and Trent Taylor will see more early season opportunity.
