David Montgomery Says Running Game Will Be Better
4 years agoChicago Bears running back David Montgomery said that the team's running attack will be better in 2020 after they ranked 27th in the NFL with 1,458 rushing yards in 2019. They were also 28th in rushing touchdowns (eight) and 29th with 3.7 yards per rushing attempt. Of the 20 players in the NFL with at least 200 carries last year, only Le'Veon Bell averaged less than Montgomery's 3.67 yards per carry. Montgomery said he's a lot more confident heading into Year 2 and knows the offense. Despite last year's disappointment, the 22-year-old shouldn't have to worry about pass-catching back Tarik Cohen eating too much into his early down and short-yardage carries. Target Montgomery as a low-end RB2/high-end RB3 with plenty of room for improvement in his sophomore season.
