Za’Darius Smith 2020 Fantasy Outlook: Top Sack Specialist For Your IDP Mix
5 years agoIn his fourth season with Baltimore in 2018, Za’Darius Smith showed much promise that he could be a premier sack artist if given the opportunity. In his final year as a Raven, Smith totaled 8.5 sacks and turned his potential into a four-year deal with Green Bay. He made the Packers very glad they inked him in his first season with them, registering 13.5 sacks as one of the best pass-rushing LBs in the league. Packersnews.com highlighted that he was able to pressure opposing QBs at the second highest rate in the league (14.8%) and was second in disruption rate (17.5%), according to NFL.com. They also noted that Smith was the only player in the league with 90-plus pass pressures last year, via Pro Football Focus. For fantasy purposes, though, Smith was not quite versatile enough. He did not pick up a single turnover and finished with 55 tackles. He had only two games with more than five tackles last season. Smith is the consensus ranked No. 41 linebacker and 80th IDP player overall. If you mix him in with some other strong tackle producers in your lineups he certainly can be an asset for the outstanding sack production. He may be something of a fantasy specialist, yet he is a good depth pick.
