K.J. Wright 2020 Outlook: Health, Role Are Question Marks For The Veteran
5 years agoThe duo of K.J. Wright and Bobby Wagner in Seattle is one of the best linebacking tandems in the NFL. Wright is a sideline-to-sideline tackling machine with 100-plus combined tackles in five of the last six seasons, but he'll also be 31 this July and is coming off offseason shoulder surgery. Seattle's longest-tenured player -- drafted in the fourth round in 2011 -- might not be fully healthy when training camp starts. There's also the possibility that Wright is moved from the weak side to the strong side, with first-round rookie Jordyn Brooks taking over Wright's old spot. Wright had a nice 2019 season with a career-high 132 combined tackles, moving him into third place on the team's all-time tackles list, but he hasn't had a sack since his Pro Bowl season in 2016. Coming off surgery and with a potential position switch possibly limiting his overall production, Wright is a fringe top-25 IDP linebacker at this point in his career.
