Chase Claypool 2020 Outlook: Athletic Rookie With A Lot Of Upside
5 years agoPittsburgh Steelers wide receiver Chase Claypool was drafted in the second round of this year’s draft. He was the 11th wide receiver off the board. Claypool proved to be a workout warrior at the combine by posting a 4.42 40-yard dash at 238 pounds, which equated to a 99th percentile size-adjusted speed score. He also jumped out of the building with a 40.5-inch vertical. There’s a lot of competition in Pittsburgh’s offense at the wide receiver position. JuJu Smith-Schuster will be the team’s alpha in the passing game. Diontae Johnson and James Washington both proved to be functional assets to the offense. The team also acquired Eric Ebron to fill in at tight end. There’s a lot of congestion in the offense. For him to see the field, Claypool will need an injury or two to help pave the way for him to seeing a larger snap share. With an average draft position of 280.74, there’s a good chance he’s going undrafted in your fantasy draft. He’s best left on the waiver wire until he starts getting more involved in the offense. Claypool is more valuable as a long-term dynasty stash than a plug and play redraft asset.
