Denzel Mims 2020 Outlook: A Potential Dynasty Asset
5 years agoNew York Jets wide receiver Denzel Mims is one of more than 15 receivers in this rookie class who has the talent to become a real dynasty asset, and he is closer to the top of that list than the bottom. Mims gives the Jets the same deep element that Robby Anderson did before his exit, but Mims has better hands and a stronger frame that helps him bring in the contested balls that Anderson would typically let go. Mims joins a Jets receiving group that could use his help, too. Mims’ only apparent competition for targets on this team is Breshad Perriman, Jamison Crowder, Le'Veon Bell, and Chris Herndon (or Ryan Griffin if Herndon is hurt). While Crowder is likely to get 120-plus short targets from Darnold, the rest of that receiving corps shouldn’t scare Mims' owners. Perriman has notched 50-plus receiving yards in only 11 of his 51 NFL games, Adam Gase isn’t reportedly high on the struggling Bell, and we don’t know if Herndon can stay healthy or relevant. Considering Mims’ talent and lack of competition for touches and yards, Mims’ current ADP of 195th overall is far too low. Instead, Mims should be going in the top-130 picks of re-drafts, and he should be treated as a top-15 rookie in dynasty leagues.
