Zach Ertz 2020 Outlook: Still One Of The NFL’s Top Tight Ends
5 years agoPhiladelphia Eagles tight end Zach Ertz isn’t quite the same player that he was earlier on in his NFL career, but he’s still one of the best fantasy options at a tight end position that remains fairly shallow. Ertz’s 2018 numbers always felt like a slight aberration from his normal production, as his 116 catches that year were 38 more than his career high and his 1163 yards were over 300 more than his previous best. But 2019 might provide us a better guide for what to expect from Ertz over the next couple of seasons, as he caught 88 passes for 916 yards with six touchdowns. He still finished as a top-five fantasy tight end for the third year in a row though, and Ertz is a more than solid fantasy option heading into 2020. Yes, Dallas Goedert’s emergence last year isn’t great for Ertz as Goedert’s proven to be a threat, and Philly adding receiver Jalen Reagor should cut into Ertz’s target share, but he’s still a steady option with a nose for the end zone. Ertz is going to be deservedly be the third tight end drafted when fantasy drafts arrive and while a few guys below him in ADP have good chances of posting better numbers than he will, Ertz is a safe fantasy pick for any team that wants to ensure they have consistent production at tight end.
