Zach Davies Sharp In Spring Debut
5 years agoSan Diego Padres starter Zach Davies blanked the Milwaukee Brewers across two innings Sunday in his spring training debut. Facing his former squad, Davies received the nominal start and retired six batters in succession, including a strikeout. The 27-year-old tallied a 3.55 ERA (4.56 FIP) in 159 2/3 innings last season (31 starts) and is projected as fourth in the Friars 2020 rotation. With a career 3.91 ERA over five seasons, Davies’ fantasy stock gets a boost as he transfers to pitcher-friendly Petco Park but carries limited appeal with just a 17 percent strikeout rate. At his current 474 ADP, Davies won’t make many standard rosters but could be an interesting weekly streamer.
