5 years agoLos Angeles Dodgers starting pitcher Jimmy Nelson (back) is scheduled to throw a light bullpen session on Thursday. Nelson is a bit behind with a minor injury, but he still has time to be ready for Opening Day. The right-hander is competing with the likes of Dustin May, Ross Stripling and Tony Gonsolin for a rotation spot. If he can't get healthy enough in spring training, though, the Dodgers will be more than comfortable using him in a potential setup role with Blake Treinen ahead of closer Kenley Jansen. Nelson had a great year in 2017 but suffered a shoulder injury late that year and hasn't pitched much since.
