Phillies Acquire Kyle Garlick From Dodgers
5 years agoThe Philadelphia Phillies acquired outfielder Kyle Garlick from the Los Angeles Dodgers on Saturday in exchange for pitcher Tyler Gilbert. Outfielder Nick Martini was designated for assignment by the Phils in a corresponding move. Garlick, 28, hit .250/.321/.521 with three homers and six RBI in 30 games in his first taste of the big leagues last season. He will have to impress the Phillies in spring training to win a backup outfield job heading into Opening Day. Gilbert, 26, had a 2.83 ERA, 1.11 WHIP and 46 K's in 47 2/3 innings over 36 relief outings at Triple-A Lehigh Valley in 2019. He could be useful as a lefty arm out of the bullpen eventually.
