Trent Grisham The Front-Runner In Center Field Competition
5 years agoThe San Diego Padres expect outfielder Trent Grisham to be their Opening Day center fielder, according to San Diego Union-Tribune beat writer Kevin Acee. The 23-year-old was acquired in the offseason for infielder Luis Urias from the Milwaukee Brewers. Grisham lit up the minors last year before debuting with the Brewers to a .738 OPS and six homers in 183 plate appearances. His primary competition will be outfielders Franchy Cordero and Wil Myers but the Padres should be able to platoon the three players in center and right field. Veteran Tommy Pham is expected to be the stalwart in left. Possessing a solid hit tool, power upside and sprint speed in the 93rd percentile, Grisham is worth a low-risk gamble at his 340 ADP as a rotational fantasy asset.
