Tommy Pham Played Through Torn UCL
5 years agoSan Diego Padres outfielder Tommy Pham (elbow) said that he was able to play through a partially torn ulnar collateral ligament in his elbow last season. Pham received stem-cell injections and platelet-rich plasma therapy throughout the offseason. San Diego acquired Pham from the Rays in the offseason, and he's expected to help set the table near the top of the lineup in his new home. The 31-year-old (32 in March) can hit for average, power and steal bases, but his move to San Diego could depress his offensive numbers at pitcher-friendly Petco Park. Still, Pham is on the edge of being a top-25 fantasy outfielder after hitting .273 with 21 homers, 68 RBI and 25 steals in 567 at-bats last year.
