Nationals Bring Yan Gomes Back
5 years agoThe Washington Nationals agreed to a two-year, $10 million deal to re-sign catcher Yan Gomes on Wednesday night, according to sources. Gomes will rejoin Kurt Suzuki for Washington's catching tandem in 2020 as they try to defend their World Series title. The 32-year-old was the least effective of the two options in D.C. last year, hitting only .223/.316/.389 with 12 home runs and 43 RBI in 314 at-bats. He's a better real-life player for depth than a fantasy one, so Gomes is only really attractive in two-catcher or single-universe leagues.
