Nolan Jones Undergoes Surgery On Thumb
5 years agoCleveland Indians third baseman Nolan Jones (thumb), the team's top prospect per MLB Pipeline, had surgery on his right thumb on Wednesday. The youngster will start his rehab this week with the goal of doing unrestricted baseball activities at the start of spring training next year. The 21-year-old left-handed hitter batted .272/.409/.442 with 15 homers, 22 doubles, 63 RBI and seven steals in 126 games with High-A Lynchburg and Double-A Akron last year before playing in the Arizona Fall League. He could get off to a slow start on the farm next year while his thumb continues to heal, but Jones isn't far from his major league debut if he continues to produce. There's a chance we see him later in 2020, so he's one to stash in dynasty/keeper leagues.
