Patrick Corbin To Start Game 1 Of NLDS
5 years agoWashington Nationals starting pitcher Patrick Corbin will start Game 1 of the National League Division Series on Thursday against the Dodgers, according to manager Dave Martinez. Ace Max Scherzer started the wild-card win over the Brewers on Tuesday and Stephen Strasburg pitched three innings of scoreless relief for the win, so the southpaw Corbin will get the nod in L.A. Corbin went 14-7 with a tidy 3.25 ERA, 1.18 WHIP and 238 strikeouts in 202 innings (33 starts). In his one start against the Dodgers this year, Corbin tossed seven shutout innings with four walks and eight strikeouts. The Dodgers ranked eighth in the NL with a .777 OPS against left-handers -- they were first against righties at .824 -- and were first in the league with 86 homers against them. Corbin is one of the better left-handers in the game, but he faces a difficult task in Game 1 on the road against the best team in baseball.
