Dillon Brooks 2019 Player Outlook
5 years agoMemphis Grizzlies guard/forward Dillon Brooks had a nice rookie campaign in 2017-18, but a toe injury ruined his sophomore year. Brooks featured in only 18 games last season and didn't have a single appearance as a starter. He had started 74 games the previous year, averaging 11 points on 44 percent shooting and picking up 3.1 rebounds and 1.6 assists. 2019-20 is a great opportunity for a lot of players in Memphis after the franchise pushed the reset button by trading Mike Conley and Marc Gasol. Brooks is currently projected to be the starting shooting guard, which puts him in a great position to perform. There's a lot of competition for places and the rotation will likely be messy throughout the season, as the Grizzlies won't have anything to play for, so there's a chance that Brooks ends up being a bust, but he has previously proven that he can do a job in the league. The likes of Grayson Allen and De'Anthony Melton have less experience, which should give Brooks a head start regarding the push for the starter's job at shooting guard.
