Norman Powell 2019 Player Outlook
5 years agoToronto Raptors shooting guard/small forward Norman Powell will look to have a larger role with the Raptors this season with the departures of Kawhi Leonard and Danny Green. We could even see Powell take the starting shooting guard spot and in 63 games as a starter over his career he has posted decent numbers of 11.0 points, 3.2 rebounds, 0.9 steals and 1.4 makes from three on a respectable 46.7% shooting from the floor. We have seen Powell on the cusp of a breakout season in the past, but injuries or the arrival of a player ahead of him in the rotation has often derailed his progress. With the Raptors in need of perimeter scoring, the opportunity is there for the feisty wing. He will be getting selected in later rounds across all formats, and in shallower leagues, he may be left on the waiver wire come the start of the season. Keep an eye on Powell this season as we may see “Playoff Powell” become “Season-long Powell” in 2019-20.
