Michael Crabtree 2019 Outlook: Last Swing of the Axe
6 years agoIf he finds a team for the 2019 season, Michael Crabtree can still play a role for fantasy football owners. It may not be the WR2 role he was in only a couple of seasons ago in Oakland, but a WR4 season is still in the cards. In a lost year for Baltimore with Lamar Jackson behind center, Crabtree was still able to put up 54 receptions for 607 yards and three touchdowns. This may not seem like a lot, and it isn’t, but what more can you expect with a run-first, run-second, run-third offense? Crabtree is just one season removed from 89 receptions for 1,003 yards and eight touchdowns on 145 targets. The talent is still there but the situation is in flux.
At age 31, these numbers are more than likely behind him. But given an opportunity in the right offense, 70 catches for 800 yards is not out of the question. If he somehow finds his way to an anemic offense like Tennessee, he will remain an afterthought. If he goes to a team like the Patriots or Kansas City, he is very viable and should be drafted late in drafts as a flier. For the time being, he is not to be drafted as we don’t know where or if he will sign. In dynasty leagues, hold on to him for a while to see how things play out.
