Jamison Crowder 2019 Outlook: Worth More to NY Jets Than Fantasy Owners
6 years agoCrowder’s 2018 season with the Washington Redskins was terrible whether he was on the field (29-388-2 in nine games) or off it (missed seven games due to injury). Thank goodness he took his talents to the New York Jets or else who knows what he would have done fantasy-wise with Case Keenum or Dwayne Haskins throwing to him in Washington. Crowder signed for $28.5 million to become New York’s starting slot receiver and make plays down the middle while Robby Anderson hits home runs downfield. The problem is that hard-nosed Quincy Enunwa is a Sam Darnold favorite and might take some targets away from Crowder on third down, plus Crowder might be hard-pressed to reach 95-100 targets when the Jets have to spread the ball around to Anderson, Enunwa, tight end Christopher Herndon and top tailback Le’Veon Bell. Crowder does not find the end zone (14 TD in four seasons) so he is more valuable in PPR leagues, but if he has to battle four other pass catchers for targets he might not be very valuable there, either. With a new team, offense, head coach and quarterback, Crowder still should be viewed as a WR3, but the situation he signed into might cause him to slip to be a WR4.
