Josh Allen 2019 Outlook: Streaming Quarterback Option With Upside
6 years agoBuffalo Bills quarterback Josh Allen should be considered to be a streaming quarterback option, with weekly upside. As a rookie, Allen started off slow, due in part to the team faltering on offense, as well as missing some time with an elbow injury, but ended the season as a standout performer at the position. Allen enters this season with upgrades on the offensive line, as well as improvements in his receiving corps. The team made moves early in the offseason to bring in John Brown, Cole Beasley and tight end Tyler Kroft. Brown was effective in the early season in Baltimore when Joe Flacco was targetting him downfield but struggled once the offense moved heavily towards running the ball. Beasley has long been an effective slot receiver and should continue to be an effective receiving option in that role in Buffalo. Kroft is certainly an upgrade at tight end from Charles Clay, who left that team after struggling all season to be an effective receiver. Fantasy owners should also be able to rely upon a certain level of rushing production, with Allen having effective fantasy production, rushing for 95 yards and five rushing touchdowns in four of his last six games of the season. However, a majority of that rushing production was on scramble plays, rather than designed runs, meaning that he may struggle to have that level of production in individual games. Allen has the potential to be an effective fantasy quarterback this season, but is more likely to be an effective streaming option.
