Jarred Kelenic Promoted To High-A
6 years agoSeattle Mariners outfielder Jarred Kelenic was promoted to High-A Modesto in the California League on Tuesday, according to a source. The 19-year-old is in his first full professional season after being the sixth overall pick in last year's draft. He was traded from the Mets in the deal that included closer Edwin Diaz and second baseman Robinson Cano over the winter. Kelenic hit .303/.391/.564 with 11 home runs, 13 doubles, three triples, seven steals, 25 walks and 45 strikeouts in 49 games for Low-A West Virginia to earn the promotion. Kelenic is the team's No. 2 prospect and No. 42 overall, per MLB Pipeline, and he should show his face in Seattle in the next few seasons.
