George Springer Officially Placed On Injured List
6 years agoThe Houston Astros officially placed outfielder George Springer (hamstring) on the 10-day injured list on Saturday with a left hamstring strain and called up outfielder Derek Fisher from Triple-A in a corresponding move. Springer had just returned on Friday night after a four-game absence with lower back stiffness. It's a huge blow to the 'Stros and fantasy owners, as Springer was hitting at an All-Star level with a .308/.389/.643 slash line, American League-leading 17 home runs and 43 RBI and four stolen bases. It's unclear how long he might be out, so stay patient. Fisher, not Yordan Alvarez or Kyle Tucker, gets the call to help replace Springer. Fisher struggled in 86 plate appearances last year in Houston, but he was hitting .314/.379/.555 with eight homers, 24 RBI and six steals in 33 games on the farm before the call-up. He's not in the starting lineup on Saturday and might see sporadic playing time while Springer is out.
