Curtis Samuel 2019 Outlook: Risk With a Sprinkle of Upside
6 years agoCarolina Panthers wide receiver Curtis Samuel will enter the 2019 season with lots to prove. He was targeted 65 times in 2018, catching 39 balls for 494 yards and five touchdowns. He added eight rushes for 84 more yards and two touchdowns on the ground. He proved to be a versatile piece of the offense, but never really settled into a specific role. With Devin Funchess now gone and the Panthers repeatedly saying they want to give Christian McCaffrey fewer snaps, there is certainly room for Samuel's role to grow. He began to flash a bit near the end of the 2018 season, but a season-ending injury cut that all short. He's a risky pick in fantasy for 2019, but could be a post-hype sleeper and should be considered in late rounds.
