German Marquez Labors Through Infected Tooth
6 years agoColorado Rockies starting pitcher German Marquez decided to tough out an infected tooth, and he escaped any major damage from the Phillies but not easily. Marquez apparently went without sleep on Thursday night before the game due to the pain, but he survived five innings of exciting baseball to keep the Rockies in the game. The team would go on to win in extra innings. Marquez allowed 10 hits and walked two while striking out five over the five runner-filled innings, but he only allowed two runs to score. He told reporters he tried to hide the condition from manager Bud Black because he wanted to pitch, but he already said he's going to see a doctor on Saturday. Owners should be prepared for the possibility that he might have to miss his scheduled start next week against the Nationals, depending on how this turns out.
