Josh Fuentes Called Up From Triple-A
6 years agoThe Colorado Rockies called up first baseman Josh Fuentes from Triple-A Albuquerque on Saturday to replace Ryan McMahon (elbow). It was Fuentes' first major league game, and he successfully smacked a single in his pinch-hit at-bat. Fuentes was the MVP of the Pacific Coast League last season, as he hit .327 with 14 home runs, and he is considered Colorado's 11th best prospect, according to MLB Pipeline. He's not expected to receive a lot of playing time since Colorado is already pretty deep in backup players for the right side of the infield, but he could see a few at-bats to try to wedge his way into the conversation. Fuentes missed spring training this year due to recovering from a hamate injury.
