Michael Brantley 2019 Outlook: Solid OF3 Brings Security in All Formats
6 years agoHouston Astros OF Michael Brantley will join a new club after 10 years roaming the Indians' outfield. Brantley signed a two-year, $32 million deal to provide a solution to one of the few trouble spots the 2017 champs had remaining this offseason. In 2018, Brantley rebounded nicely from two injury-plagued seasons to post a slash line of .309/.364/.468 with 17 HR, 76 RBI, 89 R, and 12 SB. Always a doubles machine with a minuscule strikeout rate of 10.7% for his career, Brantley contributes across all roto categories but should be targeted much higher in points leagues. His spot in a talented Astros lineup could be considered a boon, although he likely will move down to the fifth spot as opposed to last year when he was penciled in as the #2 hitter each game. This could help his RBI total but lower his chances of reaching double-digit steals or scoring quite so many runs. In all, Brantley is a solid third outfielder who can be found outside the top 100 picks in most drafts.
