Joey Gallo 2019 Outlook: Homers, Strikeouts and Walks; Oh My!
6 years agoTexas Rangers outfielder/first baseman Joey Gallo should provide plenty of fantasy value again in 2019 in his very specific categories. Gallo finished up the 2018 season with a .206/.312/.498 slash line, including 40 home runs, 82 runs scored, and 92 runs batted in. Gallo continued to be the embodiment of the "three true outcomes" plate appearance: he struck out 207 times and walked 74 times, in addition to the 40 homers. He's an awesome source of power, but will drag down a team's batting average somewhat significantly. A fantasy team stacked with high batting average players can afford to hide Gallo's low average and benefit from his power output. His current ADP sits at 106, and that would likely go up if he does, in fact, end up moving back to third base. Even though President of Baseball Operations and General Manager Jon Daniels has already said Gallo will not be moving back to third base following Adrian Beltre's retirement and the departure of Jurickson Profar, things can change quickly in spring training.
