Marquez Valdes-Scantling Catches Touchdown In Week 8
6 years agoGreen Bay Packers rookie wide receiver Marquez Valdes-Scantling caught two passes on five targets for 45 yards and a touchdown in a Week 8 loss to the Los Angeles Rams. Valdes-Scantling has emerged this year as the top rookie wide receiver option in Green Bay. His role was larger in the past few games when several other wide receivers missed time due to injuries. Still, it was nice to see him maintain some kind of role even with the whole wide receiver corps healthy. Valdes-Scantling is tall and fast and has shown some affinity towards picking up Green Bay’s playbook. Still, he was an unheralded draft prospect for a reason and his ceiling likely falls short of an elite receiver. That is still much better than fellow wide receiver Geronimo Allison. At this point Valdes-Scantling does not warrant a roster spot unless there are injuries. However, he is worth keeping an eye on as his role may increase as the weeks go on.
