Ollie Schniederjans Struggles at Safeway Open
6 years agoOllie Schniederjans started his 2019 season the same way he ended 2018, missing a cut. The promising American imploded with a seven-over par performance and only finished ahead of one player in the 144-player field. Schniederjans lost a staggering 11.977 strokes tee to green, which was highlighted with 8.814 strokes being lost on his approach shots. After climbing up to a career-high ranking of 77th in the world at the beginning of last season, the former No. 1 ranked amateur has slipped to 128th in the Official World Golf Rankings. Schniederjans will quickly be back in action at this week's CIMB Classic. TPC Kuala Lumpur is a course that yields a lot of scoring opportunities, which could suit Schniederjans' game. However, the 25-year-old is far from a guarantee because of his current level of inconsistency. He is best used in large GPP fields as a contrarian option.
